It's Friday!!!

One month into our new school year, and I'm finally into the schedule! I'm so happy to be back in the routine and teaching students again! My favorite teaching moment so far has been watching students master 2 digit by 2 digit multiplication. It requires a lot of steps, but gosh they are learning!

I really hope that you are enjoying this school year.

Now that we're in the routine, I am having fun and learning a lot. Did you know that? Even as a teacher I learn new things everyday too. With the Chromebooks added to our classrooms, I'm always looking for new learning tools for my students. Gosh, there's a lot out there!

I've also learned a lot about Digital Citizenship. I'm sure you've talked about it a lot in your class. It's important to be a good citizen on the internet.

Well, it's Friday. Time to curl up with my current book.

Have a great weekend.

Is Anyone Out There? *grin*

It's hard to believe it, but I just realized that this site is still up. Very, very long story short, I thought that when they re-did all the school webpages that this was taken down. I'm so glad to see it's still up! So, how is Summer going for you? Are you reading? Are you writing? Have you been to camp? It could be any kind of a camp, church camp or music camp, or even science camp. Or tons of others that I can't think of at that moment.

Or perhaps you've been on vacation? Where did you go? What did you do? *grin*

I'm not even sure if anyone checks this page, but I'm going to go ahead and post this Summer. Perhaps there will be someone out there reading. *grin*

As for me, I've already read 2 books and spent one week out at a camp for people with special needs. It was a lot of fun, but I was tired when I came back. Now I'm in the routine of tutoring, and well, reading. *grin*

This week I have plans to visit with a friend, tutor, and I'm attending the Sporting KC game tomorrow night with my brother. *grin*

Well, whatever you're doing, I hope it's fun. If you want to write in, you can email me at shannon.springer@lsr7.net. I will post replies with nicknames on here. Yes, that means if you email me, I will post it (if you give me permission) but I won't use your real name. I'll give you a nickname. *grin* I can be creative like that, but in a very positive way.

Well, time to play with my four-legged-furry-kid.

Hope to hear from someone this Summer!

Hooked on Books!

Hello!

I have missed blogging, but I have been busy READING. I'm not kidding. I asked for books for the holidays, and I got some! I have been reading, reading, reading. It's been fun.

If you haven't found the right book for you, I encourage you to talk to Ms. Johnson or Mrs. Scott in our library to help you find a series or a book just for you.

You're also welcome to talk to me, but I realize I'm not as easy to find because I'm in a classroom all day long.

I would post some book reviews, but the books I have just finished have been for teens and are not books that we would place in our library.

I would like to encourage you to try a new genre though. That's what I just did.

I walked through a book store in December. I went into a section of the store that I don't normally go into (teens) and found three books that looked interesting.

Now, I'm not saying to go to the teens area. That's NOT my point.

My point is, maybe you typically read Non-Fiction. Maybe you should try fiction for a change. Or, maybe you read fantasy all the time, perhaps you should try adventure for a change.

My favorite thing about books is that there is something for everyone.

So, if you think, "books are just okay" I encourage you not to give up.

I guarantee you that there is a book just for you!

HAPPY READING!

THE PUZZLER'S MANSION *****

I have a book review tonight. Yes, we're on break and I have a book review. I have to admit, part of what I love about break is that I can read! So, I finished the book THE PUZZLER'S MANSION by Eric Berlin. It is the third book that Eric has written with Winston the Puzzler in it, and I HIGHLY recommend this series of books. Well, okay, they all stand alone, they aren't like a series in a row, but they are all GREAT books! This one did not disappoint. I had a gift card and bought it recently and REALLY enjoyed it.

So, perhaps you will get a gift card to a bookstore this holiday season. If you do, check it out! You will be glad you did!

Speaking of which, I had a friend at school give me a new book and I'm SO EXCITED. *grin*

I know this is short tonight, but I'm thinking of all of the wonderful SVE kids and I truly hope you enjoy your break.

DIARY OF A WIMPY KID-THIRD WHEEL ****1/2

Today I have a review for you, and also want to let you know that THIS WEEK IS THE BOOK FAIR! *grin* Yes, Monday, November 19, and Tuesday, November 20th are the Book Fair in the orange room! Come check it out! *grin*

Okay, now for the new Wimpy Kid review. *grin*

I give it four and a half out of five stars. It was really enjoyable, and I had it read in NO TIME. That's how I know a book is REALLY fun, is when I read it REALLY fast.

So go ahead, pick it up, YOU'LL BE GLAD YOU DID!!!

And, before you ask me, YES, it is in the BOOK FAIR. *grin*

THE DOUBLE LIFE OF ZOE FLYNN ****1/2

Tonight I have a book review for you. NO, it's not the Wimpy Kid book, that will be my next review. I am one of those readers who likes to finish one book before getting very deep into another one. I'll admit it, I read about 25 pages of Wimpy Kid last night though. It was hard to resist. There's just nothing like a new book in my hands! *grin*

Tonight I finished THE DOUBLE LIFE OF ZOE FLYNN by Janet Lee Carey. I really enjoyed this book. I immediately felt connected to the main character, Zoe. While her journey isn't an easy one, it's a rather touching one with plenty of action, laughter, and heart. I highly recommend this for readers of all ages!

I'll return it to our library tomorrow. Feel free to check it out soon! It will be worth your time. *grin*

BOOK FAIR IS NEXT WEEK TOO!!! *grin*

NEW DIARY OF A WIMPY KID

Didja buy it yet?

I will admit, I got my pre-ordered copy of Diary of a Wimpy Kid today, and am about to start reading it tonight. I have a feeling it's going to be a book for older readers, but I will definitely have a review up soon!

Didn't buy it? If not, that's okay, THE BOOK FAIR IS NEXT WEEK! *grin*

Come back soon, as I have a feeling my review will be up pretty quickly!
