Tonight I have a book review to share. I read the book MUMSKET by D. Ed. Hoggatt. This is the first book I have read by this author, who also happens to be a dear friend of mine. I will openly admit, I had read one of the earlier drafts of the book, but has been quite a while since I had read it and given feedback. I had forgotten key parts of the book, so as I read it this week, I felt like I was reading it for the first time.
I really enjoyed it! I thought it was a great story about a boy who becomes a man through his own adventure. I don't want to give too much away, as it hope my hope that the Loyal Readers of the blog will check it out! While it is a short book, it is an incredible journey that keeps you turning each page in anticipation!
The only reason it didn't get five stars from me, and I debated all day on this one, is because I would have enjoyed it more if it had been written in first person instead of third person throughout the whole book. It's a minor thing, and a matter of personal opinion, but I kept thinking to myself, "What is he thinking right now?" That's the JOY of reading books versus seeing a movie, as you get to hear the full thoughts and feelings within each character. I didn't fully grab onto that in this book. Therefore it has a 4.5 star rating. That's still a REALLY GOOD SCORE in Ms. Springer's World!
So go ahead, check it out! It is a good read!
*grin*
