I wonder how many people have noticed that I haven't updated the blog lately. Hum...I only had one comment, so it's probably not a whole lot. I sure hope people haven't given up on the blog. I just had something unexpected happen last week that I thought I would share with you.
A few years ago I read the book Marley and Me. I read it during a week I was snowed in at my house. Joplin schools were closed for an ENTIRE week due to snow, so I started reading the books I had on my nightstand. As it turns out, I read Marley & Me in a short amount of time, and cried at the end because I REALLY wanted a dog, but I couldn't have one of my own at that time due to the rental house I was in. So, I waited until I moved here to Lee's Summit. I adopted Jay from some friends of mine who were going to give their dog away, so I adopted him. Jay has been an incredible dog, and last week something unexpected happened.
We went on our usual evening walk after school, came home and ate dinner, and then went to the store. Jay went with me to the store, as usual. (He goes with me a lot.) On the drive home, he started acting funny. By the time we were home, he went under the couch and hid. I knew this wasn't normal for Jay, so I picked up the phone to call the vet, when some friends arrived. Well, very long story made short for the purpose of this post, I wound up taking him to the Animal Hospital. (Yes, there is such a thing, did you know that?) He had a big seizure that lasted a VERY long time. He stayed overnight in the hospital, and then the next day he was at the vet's for further monitoring. Thursday night I was able to bring him home, but he wasn't his usual self. Fortunately there weren't any more seizures, but he was TIRED. The vet told me that the 5 hour seizure he had was like a human running a marathon, so he would be TIRED. I just let him sleep in my arms that night, and was barely on the laptop.
Anyway, that's most of the reason why I haven't been on here. I did leave town for the weekend too. I went down to CAMP BARNABAS to help people with disabilities have fun for a weekend. It was nice.
Of course, the ENTIRE time I was there, I was wondering about Jay. As it turns out, he did GREAT! He hasn't had one seizure and everything looks GREAT. He does have to have blood drawn on Thursday Morning to make sure his organs are all okay, but he's bouncing around like he never had a seizure. That brings a smile to my face.
So, please be patient with me. This week is MAP TESTING so I will try to blog each night. And, I plan on posting some new book titles tomorrow night, along with a 6th grade story!
Thanks for reading!
*grin*
