Tonight I have a book review for you. I read the book Downsiders by Neal Shusterman. My Dad actually gave me another book by this author, and I bought this book for a friend's birthday because it looked good! My friend was kind enough to let me borrow the book (After she read it!) and enjoyed it myself. She told me nothing except, "It was good."
As I started the book, it reminded me of The Hunger Games in the sense that the book is set in a world below ours, and the culture is a Dystopian Society. Pretty big word there, eh? Basically, a Dystopian Society is one in which people live under rules that make life fearful or unhealthy. That's about the only similarity though between Downsiders and Hunger Games.
Downsiders is about humans being brought up in a society below ground level. They are taught to fear the "Upsiders."
I don't want to giveaway much more than that, but it was really enjoyable. I give this book 4 and a half stars out of five. You're probably wondering why I didn't give it five stars. While I did enjoy it, I wasn't hooked on it enough that I thought about it throughout my day when I was doing other things. For me, that is the mark of a five-star book.
That being said, this is a book I recommend for sixth graders and above. Neal Shusterman is primarily an author for teen books, and this book fits into that category as well.
Go ahead, check it out at the library! ENJOY!
Tonight I begin MUMSKET by D. Ed. Hoggatt. *grin* I'm very excited!!!
*grin*
LIFE.

GREAT.
(Stay tuned tomorrow for a post from a 6th grade Vault Story. Vault stories are VERY long and take me a day or two to get them typed out!) *grin*
