I apologize to my Loyal Readers, as I have been so busy lately that this has not been updated like usual. For that, I apologize. I will be back to my normal posting schedule now. *grin*
So, it's now SPRING BREAK! Okay, well, it's BREAK for you, I still have one last day of work. I don't mind though. I'll be in meetings, working hard, but then at 4:20, I'LL BE ON BREAK TOO! *grin*
Okay, okay, now to the REAL reason I'm on here, TO GIVE YOU SOME BOOK REVIEWS. I can hear some of you now saying, "Yesss!"
DARK EDEN by Patrick Carman *****
I will admit, I got this book because of the book trailer on Patrick Carman's site. (I'll put his webiste as a link on the right sidebar so you can go there, it's SUPER cool!) His trailer was actually a video, and it intrigued me. I used a Christmas gift card and bought the book. This book had me from page one through the end. I felt kind of stupid after I read it though, because there's a video portion that goes along with the book. I didn't know that, and when I went back to the site AFTER I read the book I saw the video thing. Ah well, truth be told I'm not a video gal when it comes to books, I like using my imagination. You might like it though, so you might want to check it out. I also read tonight that Dark Eden Book #2 (Patrick Carman must really like to write books in series form!) is coming out MARCH 27TH! I'm like a little kid at Christmas! Book #1 left me hanging, and Carman put the first chapter of book #2 at the end of book #1. Yeah, way to leave me wanting more. *grin* So, if you like an adventure that leads down an unusual path, I recommend this book for you! (A little tidbit, this book is for older students, such as 5th and 6th grade.)
I recommend Patrick Carman's books and online books. He also has 3:15, which is an app that you can download to your smartphone or ipad. The idea of 3:15 is that there is a two minute video at the beginning, you read a short story in less than fifteen minutes, and then the ending is a one-minute video. I have read/watched one of them and it was really cool. NOTE: there are some charges for some of these stories so CHECK WITH YOUR PARENTS before diving into the stories that cost money.
Patrick Carman...yeah, right now he's my favorite author for kids. His goal is the same as mine is, to get kids to LOVE READING. I'm in the middle of another series, TRACKERS, that he wrote that is really creative too! I love to read! Hope this gives you something to read over the break!
*grin*
LIFE.
IS.
GREAT!!!
